Breaking it down further – Stats on how online shoppers found our Etsy store since its’ opening in February this year
Latest Stats from August

Stats from July (in the last report)

What we learn from comparing the numbers from the two charts above:
- There is a big jump in how shoppers found our store through the Etsy app (530 from July to 821 in August). This emphasizes that there is organic growth for the store
- There is a big jump in # of shoppers finding our store through Etsy ads (492 in July to 745 in August)
- There is a big jump in direct & other traffic as well (627 in July to 829 in August)
These stats reiterate our inference from the last report that our efforts to bring in direct traffic from actual physical events and exhibitions is continuing to work well and Etsy ads are also working well to bring in visitors. We are consistently increasing the number of visitors/browsers to our store, but the overall sales conversion rate is still low.
At this point, it is good to remind ourselves that we are only in the 8th month of our store’s opening which is still quite early to establish a high conversion rate on Etsy. (Compared to experienced Etsy sellers who have established their stores on Etsy five years ago and are seeing traction in the past two years or so, patient and continuous learning are expected to be successful on Etsy).
We also wanted to provide an update on a list of other Etsy features that have not worked as well as expected so far:
- None of our recent shoppers in the last 3 months has left us a review
- Offer emails for ‘Thank You’, ‘Abandoned carts’ and ‘Favorited items’ did not bring in new sales
- Many of our products have free shipping which is supposed to prioritize those listings on search. This strategy seems to have WORKED WELL to increase the # of visitors to the store, but has NOT (YET) WORKED WELL to increase the number of sales
We will continue to closely monitor these items above and report on it next month again.
Other Takeaways and Next steps for the team at Xiangliart Etsy store
Etsy recently started reporting on factors that are lowering a store’s search visibility. See below for the 3 factors that we can improve/fix to increase our store’s search visibility. We will be working on these improvements for the rest of this month
- We need to consider lowering our shipping price to under 6$ for 32 listings
- Upload higher resolution photos for 3 listings
- Our live model product photos have worked out quite well compared to generic photos (from Print on Demand (POD) sources such as Printify and Printful)
- Adding more videos to our listings

We are excited about these updates and learnings each month. If you have further questions and thoughts, please do not hesitate to share them with us in the comments below.
