Welcome to the world of Xiang Li Art at the Cambridge Public Library, where we present a curated selection of Chinese empress portraits—beginning with a few original silk paintings, followed by vivid canvas prints of some of the more iconic empresses in history. Rather than organizing by dynasty, this exhibition offers a flowing experience across time, highlighting the unique spirit and story each empress carries. This special preview leads into our full summer exhibition at the New England Botanic Garden at Tower Hill, on view from June 14 to August 24—join us there to experience the complete collection in bloom.
